Test Kits Water Safe Well Water Test Kit
The Well Water Test Kit contains everything you need to quickly find out whether or not your drinking water is likely to contain unsafe or undesirable levels of 10 common contaminants :
- Hardness (High levels of mineral ions in the water may cause the buildup of lime scale in pipes and on fittings and may affect white goods. It is also associted with increased formation of soap scum in sinks and bath tubs and may result in reduced lathering and hence, increased use, of soap/shampoo/conditioner)
- Copper (Copper from water pipes can contaminate water, giving it a blue-green colour. Excessive consumption may cause digestive problems, liver and kidney damage, increased risk of miscarriages)
- Lead (Lead from old pipes, solder used on pipes or some tap fittings may contaminate water. Excessive consumption may be associated with learning and behavioural disorders in children, nerve and kidney damage)
- Iron (Rusty pipes may give water a yellow/orange/brown colour, clog pipes and reduce water pressure. Excessive consumption may result in digestive upsets)
- pH (The higher the pH of water, the more quickly heavy metals may leach into the water)
- Bacteria
- Chlorine
- Pesticides (atrazine, simizine)
- Nitrite
- Total nitrite/nitrate
Using the test strips provided, simply follow the instructions in the pack to test the water, then compare the appearance of the test strip with the colour charts provided. The charts give details of the US EPA's recommended maximum safe levels for the contaminants being tested.
