Lead is a toxic heavy metal that may contaminate drinking water from lead solder on metal pipe, brass taps, lead pipes (used prior to 1930) and PVC pipe. Lead contamination is silent - it does not change the colour, taste or odour of water.

Lead poses a major health risk to children's physical and mental health, with extensive research associating it with a reduced IQ, impaired healing, anti-social behaviour, learning and behavioural disorders.

This easy to use test kit can detect lead at very low levels, even those below the Action Level established by the US EPA (15ppb or one drop in a large swimming pool).

Simply open the pack, follow the instructions to test the water, then compare the appearance of the test strip with the charts provided to determine whether you result is positive or negative.

Note : This is a screening test and cannot be used to certify water as safe or unsafe for drinking.
