Avoid "new car smell" chemical exposure

To reduce chemical exposure in cars, buy a used vehicle rather than a new one. The “new car smell” is due to chemicals which are being released from the fittings in a new vehicle. When  driving a new car, reduce chemical exposure by opening the windows whenever it is used for at least the first few months, particularly if the weather is hot.  

 

 
High formaldehyde levels in trailers (caravans), mobile homes

 

An interim report released by the U.S. Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has found high levels of formaldehyde in the indoor air of trailers (caravans) and mobile homes supplied as emergency housing to people displaced by Hurricanes Katrina and Rita in December 2007 and January 2008. Processed wood products used in the construction of fittings in the trailers/homes were found to be responsible for the observed formaldehyde levels.

Transient EMF's and diabetes

Canadian researcher, Magda Havas, has found that transient EMF’s (“dirty electricity”) in the kHz range on electrical wiring may be contributing to elevated blood sugar levels among electrically sensitive diabetics and pre-diabetics.

Reduce condensation and mould growth

  

To reduce condensation which may lead to mould growth, ensure that the indoor environment is well ventilated. As well as opening doors and windows, keep a little distance between furniture and walls to enable air to circulate behind the furniture.

 
Ambient electromagnetic fields may affect human sperm quality

According to a Microwave News report, a Californian researcher has found that daily magnetic field exposures of 1.6mG or higher for at least two-and-a-half hours were associated with significantly poorer semen quality. Men who were exposed to over 1.6mG for over six hours a day were four times more likely to have substandard sperm.
