Family unwell since moving house
Maria and Geoff and their two children had been ill since moving into their home 8 months ago. They had all experienced respiratory or flu-like symptoms. Previously, they had all enjoyed quite good health. As they wanted to determine whether anything in the home may be contributing to their health issues, they asked Building Wellness to conduct a Preliminary Building Biology Home Assessment to obtain an overview of the health of home and identify any isssues that required further investigation.

Office dust concern
Richard wanted to ensure that the air conditioning system that serviced his offices was not a source of airborne dust in the work environment. Although previous investigation had found the ducts to be fairly clean, he asked Building Wellness to conduct an assessment of the particulate levels in the workplace air to ensure that they were within safety guidelines.

Musty odour without visible mould growth

Gary's premises was 18 years old. For as he could remember, there had been an unpleasant musty odour in one room. His inspections, as well as those by several builders, had not found either any visible mould growth or signs of moisture incursion. As he was considering renovating the building, he wanted to determine whether or not mould proliferation was present so that, if necessary, he could replace the affected materials as part of the renovation process. Building Wellness was therefore asked to conduct air and surface mould sampling throughout the building.

Substation EMF's in a warehouse

Diane and Bill were interested in purchasing a new warehouse for their business. However, an electrical substation was located on one side of the building and a bank of mobile phone masts was located on a pole at the rear of the building. Building Wellness was therefore asked to assess the premises for magnetic field and radio frequency exposure.

Workplace exposure to diesel exhaust
Brian's business premises consisted of offices located in the corner of a warehouse in which trucks sometimes idled for up to 20 minutes at a time. As a sticky, black "dust" was always present in the office environment, he and his staff were concerned that the diesel fumes from the warehouse may be adversely affecting the air quality in the offices. Building Wellness was therefore asked to assess the quality of the indoor air both during and after the period when the truck had been idling.
