| Moisture, Mould, Fatigue and Breathing Difficulties |
|
Harry had been experiencing fatigue and breathing difficulties since moving into his rental property. As he was certain that the house was making him sick, he asked Building Wellness to have a look at the property.
Test Findings It was found that there was a problem with mould growing in the home, particularly in Harry's bedroom. Further investigation found that this ultimately resulted from a downpipe discharging water onto the ground outside the bedroom rather than into either the stormwater system or a water tank. Each time it rained, the water pooled around and under the building, in the vicinity of his room. Recommendations Harry was advised to have the landlord connect the downpipe to the stormwater system as soon as possible. He was also told that the contaminated building materials and carpet in the home would have to be replaced to remove the mould already present. It was strongly recommended that professional mould remediators be engaged to advise the best ways of doing this and to carry out the work required. |
